Touching the Void (DVD) Bringing to life Joe Simpson's book of the same name, TOUCHING THE VOID details the near-death experience he endured during a 1985 attempt to climb the only mountain in the Peruvian Andes that had not been scaled--the 21,000-foot Siula Grande. With his partner Simon Yates, Simpson successfully reached the peak after a three-day climb. During the descent, however, he fell abdomen left lower pain and shattered several bones in his right leg. Yates attempted to lower Simpson down the mountain 300 feet at a time, but the process was slow abdomen left lower pain and painful for both men. With no food or water, they would both surely die--which left Yates with a painful choice to make--cutting Simpson loose, thus ensuring at least his own survival. This was only the beginning of Simpson's mind-boggling odyssey. Director Kevin McDonald (ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER) tells this compelling story by combining talking-head interviews with Simpson abdomen left lower pain and Yates abdomen left lower pain and stunningly photographed narrative footage--in which Simpson abdomen left lower pain and Yates' ordeal is actually reenacted on Siula Grande. McDonald's reenactment footage is both engrossing abdomen left lower pain and eye-popping abdomen left lower pain and it could easily stand alone as its own one-of-a-kind adventure film. Beyond the Mat (DVD) Filmmaker Barry W. Blaustein takes a look at the professional wrestling game at every level, from the hopeful, perhaps deluded beginners who spend their money on wrestling schools, to the lower levels of the profession, to the pinnacle of wrestling success: national fame in the WWF. Particularly fascinating are Blaustein's examinations of Jake The Snake Roberts abdomen left lower pain and Mick Mankind Foley. Roberts was once a superstar in the WWF, but evidently drugs abdomen left lower pain and alcohol destroyed his career, abdomen left lower pain and left him a broken abdomen left lower pain and bitter man, wrestling on the outer reaches of the pro circuit. In a poignant scene, Blaustein captures a painful reunion between Roberts abdomen left lower pain and his adult daughter. But the violence of his profession still threatens to tear his family apart. Blaustein makes no bones about his perspective in making his film. He's a wrestling fan.
